As you will probably have read by now, the 20th of December saw the official opening of Calne’s long awaited Banking Hub.
Calne is only the second town in Wiltshire to get a Banking Hub, the first being Royal Wooton Bassett, and no doubt this banking hub, will attract people from Chippenham and surrounding villages to our small town to do their banking, especially as we offer two hours free parking.
Whilst the banking hub is not the perfect solution for everyone’s banking needs, it does provide much improved access to face to face banking and provides the banks with a more attractive, cost-effective way of providing services. Calne’s banking hub is currently supported by five of the major banks and I can’t remember when Calne last had five banks, if ever.
If you feel the banking hub is not addressing your needs as a resident, I do encourage you to give feedback to the Banking Hub in the first place (politely of course) and also to your own bank. I would also encourage you to write to your MP to ask them to lobby the government to improve the offering at the hubs with legislation.
I will certainly be contacting the banking hub and my MP about requesting Saturday opening of the counter and supply of an external facing Cashpoint.
This would address the lack of availability of Cash over the weekends, due to the poor reliability of the only two Cash Points in the Town Centre.
